NTC (National Telephone Company)

History

The National Telephone Company was relatively short-lived British telephone company. Between 1881 and 1911 the NTC amalgamated control of a number of small local companies under one aegis. In 1912, under the Telephone Transfer Act, the NTC was taken over by the General Post Office (GPO), a state run communications company, which operated a telephone monopoly in the UK for a number of decades.
